A fulfilling Week of Learning for our Work Experience Candidate

Last week DMP proudly welcomed our first work experience candidate Samuel from Tonbridge School.

Samuel had a full and exciting week, which included a variety of interesting tasks. The packed schedule giving him an overview of the different disciplines DMP offer, meeting stakeholders, working to targets and high standards.

Read Samuel feedback and comments below;

“I have a great interest in design, architecture and engineering therefore I decided to apply for work experience at an architecture firm. DMP were happy to take me for the week of work experience. This work experience is extremely useful for me because I understand information about the role of architects and surveyors in projects such as renovation and construction.

In addition, I have also partially learnt about the role of structural engineers in construction projects. All the knowledge I gained at DMP was useful and insightful. My favourite part of the week was probably learning how to use the Auto Cad software for architecture and also completing a photographic schedule of the Corn Exchange building at the Pantiles. I also learnt many interesting things about finance with Claudine. Although I am not particularly interested in becoming an architect in the future, I found a lot of information from this work experience which contributed to my understanding of structural engineering as well as architecture.

From this experience I have discovered that architecture is a unique industry and it is especially interesting because you can carry out differing tasks each day as a result it remains stimulating. Therefore, I would definitely recommend architecture to anyone with imagination as well as creative flair.

All of the DMP team were very friendly and there was a special close-knit atmosphere within the office.”

Wonderful and insightful feedback from Samuel and a full testament to the energy and commitment he demonstrated during the week. We wish him all the success in his future career.
