Building Pathology And Our Services – Survey on a Grade II Listed Building

This week DMP have undertaken a detailed building survey on a Grade II Listed Building in the heart of Sittingbourne High Street.

This interesting property currently with mix use. Comprising of ground floor lock up retail unit and self contained offices to the upper floors. Sadly neglected for a number of years, it has been sometime since any general maintenance had taken place. Due to the lease expiry of a national jewellery retailer the landlord has sought DMP’s advice to prepare a detailed schedule of works.

Our specialist surveyors focusing on building pathology with an emphasis on building defects and performance. Our knowledge in handling historic and listed buildings means we are dedicated to making sure any repairs, alterations and renovations are done in a compassionate manner. Importantly, taking into account how the construction and materials are used and the effects on the environment.

Interestingly, the survey has revealed substantial external repairs are required to the existing flat roof covering the ground floor. In addition, masonry repairs to gable end due to timber failure. Plus, due to leaking of the front parapet it requires general internal fabric repairs.

Future plan is that once works are complete, a new lease will be offered for a new incoming retail tenant. Critically breathing new life back into our High Streets and community.
