DMP Contribute to Development Included in Council’s Development Strategy

The Economic Development Strategy Plan document was published, September of last year. Tunbridge Wells Borough Council was to address a multitude of issues raised by the local community  over the next three years.

Keys issues included:

  • A shortage of sites for local businesses to set up their base of operations
  • Currently more “floorspace” is being converted for “residential” use rather than “office” or “commercial”.
  • Due to a high level of self-employment, more commercial spaces are needed to encourage new businesses to trade.
  • Although Tunbridge Wells has a low unemployment rate; recruitment is still flagged as a key issue.

Part of the “Action Plan” for tackling the local commercial space shortage was to redevelop several properties within or around the city centre. (Objective 1, Place Shaping & Promotion, EDS 2018-2021)

DMP are proudly part of an on-going redevelopment of the Corn Exchange into an up-to-date business centre. We previously provided detailed Planning drawings to accompany the Planning Application for “Change of Use”. Following submission, Tunbridge Wells Borough Council agreed the application back in September 2017.
