West Heath School instructed DMP to provide professional services to manage and oversee demolition works of an existing unsafe structure on site.

Condemning the school main hall as structurally unsafe, the careful decision was to demolish.

DMP sought full planning permission and listed building consent for the extensive demolition and enabling works.

The main hall building comprised of double height, steel and brickwork structure. Attached to other building structures and linked into the existing Grade II Listed main building. This provided a challenge for demolition in such close proximity to the Listed building. 

Enabling and soft-strip out works have been completed, with the main structural steel work and concrete bases and foundation being removed during school holidays to maintain and mitigate the Health and Safety requirements on site owing to the presence of students.
