Planning Permission successfully achieved on Wimbledon High Street
Today DMP have successfully achieved Planning Permission from Merton Council for new shopfronts in Wimbledon High Street.
The site in question comprised of three ground-floor retail units linked by a recessed shopping arcade. It is located on a prominent corner of the High Street and Haygarth Place. The current recessed shop fronts were of a non-traditional appearance although being within Wimbledon Village Conservation Area.
The proposal allows extending the existing three self-contained retail units and installation of new timber shop fronts. Careful consideration was made with respect to the design of the new shopfronts in line with Merton Councils SPG Shop Front Guidance dated March 2017.
There shall be stall risers and new timber mouldings forming cornicing above the windows. The shop front doors have been inset from the main frontage to provide a tiled entrance lobby.
The proposal was considered by scale, form, design, positioning and materials of the proposed shop front, which would enhance the character and appearance of the area, the building and neighbourly amenity.
